Encode a URL
Paste a value or a full encoded string. Spaces become %20 when decoding a plus.
URL encodeOn this device
Encode uses the browser’s encodeURIComponent, which is the right call for one query value. Decode uses decodeURIComponent. A plus sign is treated as a space before decoding, which is how form bodies are written.
How to use it
- Paste the text.
- Choose encode or decode.
- Copy the result.
Good to know
- Encode one value, not a whole URL you still want to keep readable. The : and / characters are encoded too.
- A broken % sequence is rejected.
- Nothing is uploaded.
Questions
Why did https:// change?
Encode is for a value you will place inside a URL. Encode the value, then put it after the ? yourself.
Does + mean space?
When decoding, yes. That matches application/x-www-form-urlencoded.
